A Metalli: Sanremo a Cornigliano (© Andrea Picollo)
The Coastal Sediment Quality Index (CSQI) shows the overall sediment quality (metals and
organic substances) for a number of measurement along the Ligurian coast.
B Overall CSQI (© Andrea Picollo)
Sanremo shows a remarkably good overall performance, while Porta Santa Teresa has serious
problems.
C Metalli (© Andrea Picollo)
For the sub-index on heavy metals, Sanremo is again on the top. The worst values are
registered at Cornigliano.
D Organic substances (© Andrea Picollo)
Manarola has the lowest values for organic substances, while again Porta Santa Teresa
"leads" the ranking from the other end.

The high correlation between the overall index "Metalli" and Zinc might imply
that Zinc could be used as a "lead indicator". However, other substances might
behave differently - an advantage of the CQSI is that it keeps an eye on all of them...
