E analysis view
The analytical view consists of two small panes plus a large window for analysis, which may be a distribution, scatterplot, time series or map view. In this example, the all panes view of the index "Commitment to Development Index" is shown; Canada scores 618 points. In comparison, Italy arrives at 447 points (rank 15), which is considered "average" (rank 1: Netherlands, worst at rank 21: Japan; embedded mode, group: OECD).
F analysis view: matching the CGDEV methodology
The Dashboard uses a very straightforward way of calculating overall performance: The worst in the group gets 0 points, the best 1000, all others are linearly interpolated; the sum of points per indicator is being added up to provide the overall score. In order to get the best match to CGDEV's original rankings, weights had to be adjusted slightly. The resulting ranking is identical, the point scores differ only marginally.
G scatterplot
A simple scatterplot may reveal interesting insights. For example, how is "Aid" linked to other indicators, such as "Trade"? Click into the "recycling" icon to perform a systematic analysis of the linkages between all indicators. Here, France scores "average" for Aid (Y axis, 447 points) and "excellent" for Trade (X axis, 902 points; embedded mode, group: Europe).
