A all panes view: comparing five cities
This view serves to give a quick comparison of several cities. For example, Casablanca scores 467 points for "City Development Index", or rank 101 among all 11 cities, which is considered "average".
B all panes view: detailed profile of one city
This view gives a detailed profile for Damascus. For "City Development Index", Damascus scores 537 points, or rank 86 among all 11 cities, which is considered "average".
C two pane view
In this view, the panels are larger and show the full indicator names. On the right, the distribution for the indicator "City Development Index". On the Y-axis, the number of points is shown, while the X-axis shows the respective rank. Phnom Penh scores 427 points, or rank 12.
D analysis view
The analytical view consists of two small panels plus a large window for analysis, which may be a distribution, scatterplot, time series or map view. In this example, the distribution of the index "City Development Index" is shown; Aversa scores 813 points. In comparison, Vientiane arrives at 357 points (rank 118), which is considered "bad" (rank 1: Hull, worst at rank 148: Niamey; group: EU15+Least DC in embedded mode).
E scatterplot
A simple scatterplot may reveal interesting insights. For example, how is "Health" linked to other indicators, such as "Product (income)"? Here, Phnom Penh and Kinshasa are being compared. Click into the "recycling" icon to perform a systematic analysis of the linkages between all indicators.
F Least Developed Countries
Here. the LDC cities are shown in exclusive mode as a scatterplot. Best is Phnom Penh, worst Entebbe. Niamey scores 574 points for Life expectancy, which is considered "fair" in this context. Entebbe scores 0 ("critical"), but look at how the two cities compare for the second indicator...!
G groups view
By right-clicking into a "D" pane, you can toggle between cities and groups view. The results should be handled with care, especially for groups with few cities. Right-click into a group circle (e.g. "Asia") to see the members of this group.
H linkage analysis
This view ahows a distribution in the large pane, and two listboxes in the lower left pane, from which you can choose the X axis indicator. The figures in the left column of the listbox are the regression coefficient multiplied with 1000. Test the linkage analysis with "Health": Harare (in group ACP) scores 726 points, i.e. "good", for the City Development Index, but why a "critical" valuation (94 points) for Health?
I analysis view
The analytical view consists of two small panels plus a large window for analysis, which may be a distribution, scatterplot, time series or map view. In this example, the linkage analysis of the index "Health" is shown in exclusive mode for the group Asia; Ulaanbaatar scores 525 points. In comparison, Tbilisi arrives at 711 points (rank 18), which is considered "good" (rank 1: Singapore, worst at rank 40: Chittagong).
J linkage analysis
This view ahows a scatterplot in the large pane, and two listboxes in the lower left pane, from which you can choose the X axis indicator. The figures in the left column of the listbox are the regression coefficient * 1000. Test it with "Health": Accra scores 774 points for Health ("good"), but for City Development Index, the score is 428 points ("bad").
