Dear Dashboard user, This page is obsolete (except the part for developers) - if you have a Dashboard downloaded after March 3, 2003, just run the software (the icon is in your Windows Start Menu) and press Control F5 to see the download dialog. Much simpler and faster... however, if you encounter problems, the procedure below still works. Tell me what didn't work, though. Here you can download additional indicator sets. Make sure that you
have a recent version of the Dashboard (i.e. downloaded after December 15, 2002); if not,
click into the icon to the right to install the latest version, then proceed with the
download of other indicator sets following the steps below. |
| The
installation procedure is very simple: 1. Right-click
in one of the links to your right, and: The Dashboard will automatically launch the new set. After some seconds (and again when you exit), you will be asked if you want this indicator set permanently (otherwise it remains in a temporary folder and will be overwritten). |

1) C:\db_circs is the folder where the Dashboard usually installs itself (unless you chose another drive during the installation). Note that if you are running a Dashboard and download a Dashboard indicator set (*.dis) file, it will be started immediately. This happens also if you copy, for example, five sets from floppy disk to C:\db_circs - you should not do that because they tend to overwrite each other, which will lead to (harmless) error messages. It is better to copy one file at a time, and to make them permanent before copying the next one to C:\db_circs.
For the dashboard developer community, here is the add-on that allows you to create your own Dashboard Indicator Set (*.dis) files: save this file as C:\db_circs\ZipDis.dis, and it will install when you run a dashboard. Afterwards, there is a new entry "ZipDis" in the Export menu (please contact me if there is any problem - exit once and restart before you test ZipDis). You can then store your dashboards as *.dis for download from your own website, or, if you prefer so, ask me to add it to the above collection. Below is a typical image of the packing process; don't forget to edit the password in the red box (I suggest to delete it, unless your dataset is top secret...). DIS files without password "unfold" automatically when copied or saved to C:\db_circs - users may be surprised by this behaviour. Be also aware of the fact that all *.dis files overwrite merciless previous identical sets, if the user says yes to the question "Make [your_set] permanent". If you use specific own maps, the *.map, *.dmi and *.pos files from C:\db_circs\db_resrc\maps\ must be copied into C:\db_circs\db_resrc\[your_set]\*... before using ZipDis. You may also copy the Excel source into the same folder, if you want to give it to the user.
Options:
"Save": copy [your_set].dis into C:\db_circs\dis\
"Test": as above, but place a test.dis copy in C:\db_circs
itself (this will launch the zipped dashboard immediately)
