Demo Subnational Dashboard (© John O'Connor, OconEco): Contents

A   all panel view
This view serves to give a quick comparison of several countries, or several years for the same country. Brazil scores 577 points for "Policy Performance Index", or rank 11 among all 30 countries of the group "Southern America", which is considered "fair".

B   two-panel view
In this view, the panels are larger and show the full indicator names. On the right, the distribution for the indicator "Nature". On the Y-axis, the number of points is shown, while the X-axis shows the respective rank. Bolivia scores 652 points, or rank 8. Note that larger "country circles" indicate you could right-click into them to show sub-national unities.

C   analysis view China
The analytical view consists of two small panels plus a large window for analysis, which may be a distribution, scatterplot, time series or map view. In this example, the distribution of the index "Economy" is shown for the group Jiangsu; Jiangsu scores 504 points. In comparison, Binhai arrives at 427 points (rank 34), which is considered "bad" (rank 1: Qidong shi, worst at rank 44: Guanyun).

D   scatterplot
A simple scatterplot may reveal interesting insights. For example, how is "Population growth" linked to other indicators, such as "Policy Performance Index"? Click into the "recycling" icon to perform a systematic analysis of the linkages between all indicators.

E   map view
The map of Southern America, using the Dashboard's colour code.

F   analysis view Japan
In this example, the distribution of the index "Economy" is shown; Japan scores 481 points. In comparison, Aichi arrives at 547 points (rank 2), which is considered "average" (rank 1: Tokyo, worst at rank 28: Kagoshima).

G   analysis view Philippines
The analytical view consists of two small panels plus a large window for analysis, which may be a distribution, scatterplot, time series or map view. In this example, the distribution of the index "Economy" is shown for the group Philippines; Philippines scores 523 points. In comparison, Bicol Region or V arrives at 326 points (rank 12), which is considered "very bad" (rank 1: NCR or Metro Manila, worst at rank 14: Western Mindanao or IX).

H   analysis view Texas
Starting from the NAFTA level, a right-click into the U.S.A. selects the available subnational units, i.e. the states. Among them, Texas has a somewhat bigger circle - right-click again, and six sub-regions of Texas will be shown. This works also for Florida and New York. Another way to select the next level is to open the "Find" box (the "+" under the "?"), to type the first characters of the desired country, and then to right-click into the central circle of the piechart.
